Question about tiny sized races

Now that I have joined the network and people will actually read my posts, I wanted to ask:

Does anyone have any ideas for "tiny" sized races?

In Ages of Avion, my homebrew setting, there will be several of them and I have yet to actually determine the rules for them. They are probably not going to be played by anyone other than those who are more role-playing oriented, as I can't imagine all of their stats will be near to the medium and small sized races.

One idea that I came up with was that the tiny sized races start with stats lower, such as 6,6,6,6,8,10 before adding points. The 8 and 10 being things that that race excels at, such as an ellobian's high intelligence.

Well, if anyone has put any thought into this or if you just come up with an idea on the spot, comment.

I would advise against making tiny races, especially if you're thinking in terms of stat negatives as some kind of tradeoff. 4e bucked that trend for good reason, and it'd be terrible to return to it.

The PHB presents 3'10" as the smallest size, but I think 3 feet can be a reasonable stretch. Anything small enough to be considered "tiny" would present the problem of clashing with rules like carrying capacity and weapon sizes, clearly not meant to go into the far extremes like huge and tiny.

I don't think you will find any reasonable way to include a balanced tiny size that does not make the creature a gimp.

I'm not sure I ever really wanted someone to play them, Maybe more of an NPC or weak GMPC to accompany the players and hide/cheer from the side when there is a battle.

yeah, your right. Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way. I can't write them up as races and have them be on a equal level playing field as the medium and small sized races. Maybe as monsters then?

Thanks, Wyatt! Maybe I have my solution already!
